Automatic mortar from the Tactical Flava mod
2B9 Vasilek Mortar Calculator for Arma Reforger
The 2B9 Vasilek comes to Arma Reforger with the Tactical Flava mod. Unlike the vanilla mortars it has two arcs: a low one that reaches from 100 metres, and a high mortar arc from 2500. Reforger FDC computes both, on the 6000 mil scale the Vasilek actually uses.

What the calculator computes for the Vasilek
From the gun and target positions it takes range and azimuth and returns elevation and time of flight on every arc that reaches. Below 2500 metres only the low arc exists, so the answer is a single one. From 2500 to 3900 metres both arcs reach, and the choice matters. At 2500 metres the high arc flies 41.8 seconds and falls at 78 degrees, while the low arc arrives in 11.9 seconds at 18 degrees; at 3900 metres the gap narrows to 33.1 against 25.8 seconds. Both stay on screen, the recommended one first.
The height difference between gun and target is read from the map terrain and applied to the elevation. It was measured in game on 31 August 2026 together with the M252, the 2B14 and the M777. The correction is refused, with the reason on screen, where the angle of fall is below five degrees or the target falls in the table's last interval, because in both places the formula returns a plainly wrong number.
Things that catch people out
- The 6000 mil scale, checked against the numbers rather than assumed from where the gun comes from. On the 2B14 exactly this mistake once cost 200 mils at an azimuth of 3000.
- No high arc under 2500 metres. A close target is served by the low arc only.
- Smoke has no usable high arc: the board prints a single row for it, so the pack leaves it out and smoke ends at 2800 metres.
Data and rights
The numbers are read from the Vasilek's own in-game board, not unpacked from mod files. The mod is published under the Arma Public License No Derivatives, which requires attribution; the author was not asked and gave no separate permission, and the pack is limited to credited readings of that board. On the table read twice, elevation and time of flight matched on every row, and those are the two columns a solution is computed from.
How to open the Vasilek in the application
- Open Reforger FDC with the Vasilek already selected and choose the map workflow or the coordinate one.
- Check that the weapon block shows the 2B9 Vasilek (Tactical Flava), then pick the round.
- Place the gun point and the target point; heights come from the terrain.
- Pick the arc where both reach, and read azimuth, elevation and time of flight.
